Government
The Board of Supervisors is responsible for the function of county government, passing ordinances and budget authority. The county has 5 districts, each with a supervisor elected to a 4 year term. Lucas Valley is in District 1. The Board conducts regular meetings on Tuesdays with the agenda usually published the previous Thursday. The Planning Commission advises the Board of Supervisors on planning policies and regulations, and makes decisions on appeals of planning permits. The 7 volunteer commissioners, are appointed by the Board of Supervisors, 1 for each district to 4 year terms and 2 at-large commissioners to 2 year terms. Public hearings are generally conducted on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month with agendas and minutes available here.
Marin Community Development Agency
CDA is responsible for building permits, environmental review of proposed projects, regulation of land use and real estate development, and management of affordable housing programs. Its Planning Division is responsible for recommending codes and review of applications for development and use permits, and subdivisions in unincorporated Marin.
